What Kind of Learner is Your Child?

Do you know what kind of a learner your kid is?

It is quite helpful to know what kind of a learner a child is because it’ll guide you on how to deal with your child and what to give them to make learning faster, better and with more fun!!

Basically, there are 3 kinds of learners..

The Visual Learner, Auditory Learner, and the Kinesthetic Learner. Let’s get to know each learner better.

The Visual Learners

The learners see the world in images or pictures. They learn a lot faster just by looking at pictures, images and other materials inside at home or in the school. They love reading books, looking at posters and watching videos.

They need to see to learn. You need to WRITE things down, DRAW pictures, or USE posters for them to understand better.

But be careful, visual learners can also get distracted also by too much visual material. It’ll be hard for them to sit and give their full attention because they tend to look at pictures and posters around them.

The Auditory Learners

The auditory learners are very good listeners. Even without pictures or posters, they can still learn a lot just by listening. They are also quite active during conversations or class discussions.

They need to hear it to learn. You need to SAY things out, INTRODUCE songs or music, come up with interactive discussions, USE dialogues or small group talks.

Also be careful in using too much music or sound, or even talking too much. They can lose focus and get distracted with it.

The Kinesthetic Learners

The learners love to explore their environment. They learn a lot more by moving around and touching things. Sometimes they have trouble sitting still in class. They really love to walk around and explore, touch things and even create things. And they can hardly learn just by seeing or listening only.

They need to move to learn. Memory is linked to movement. You need to let them explore and offer hands-on activities. You need to DEMONSTRATE some things just for them to understand. You can USE skits or role-playing activities, arts and crafts, or short trips outside the home or outside the classroom.

But be careful in using too many actions or gestures because they may become inattentive.

All you need is put a keen eye on your kid and know what kind of a learner he or she is. It’ll be easier to choose the right learning stuff for your kid!
